KVLT Drums and MIDI pack

I picked up the KVLT Drums and the Northern Death Metal MIDI pack a few weeks ago for a new project. The ordering process was smooth, just added to cart and checked out. No issues. Delivery was instant, the download links and license key landed in my inbox within a minute. Installation was straightforward, they have a good guide if you need it. The quality of the drums is solid, very punchy and exactly what I needed for death metal. The MIDI pack is extensive, lots of variations. I was able to drop them into Reaper and get going fast. Had a small question about routing in my DAW, emailed support, and got a clear answer back in under 24 hours. Overall, a really good experience for specialized VSTs.

Fast download, solid drums

Got the OSDM Drums plugin. Download was quick after purchase. The plugin installed fine on my Mac M1. Sounds exactly as advertised, very authentic old school death metal. No complaints, it does what it needs to.

Good quality, minor download snag

Bought the Riot Drums plugin and the Hardcore MIDI pack during a sale. The price was really good for what you get. The sound of Riot Drums is great, very aggressive and works well for hardcore tracks. The MIDI pack is also decent, lots of usable grooves. My only minor gripe was that one of the download links initially gave me a 'file not found' error. I refreshed the page and it worked the second time, but it caused a brief moment of confusion. Customer service wasn't needed for this, as it resolved itself. Overall, I'm happy with the purchase and the value.

How does Ugritone compare to GetGood Drums for metal? GGD is kinda pricey, looking for alternatives that still sound heavy.

M Mia 2 months ago

Ugritone is a bit more raw and aggressive, especially for the black metal/death metal sound. GGD feels more polished sometimes. Depends on what vibe you're after.

D Derek 2 months ago

I use both. GGD is great for a super modern, tight sound. Ugritone, especially KVLT, gives you that grittier, old-school feel. For the price, Ugritone is hard to beat for that specific vibe.

Are the Ugritone drum samples royalty free? Like, can I use them in songs I'm gonna release commercially without getting into trouble?

A Amber Doyle 2 months ago

Yeah, all their stuff is royalty-free. That's kinda the point of buying these sample packs.

J June 2 months ago

You're good to go. Use 'em in your commercial tracks, no problem. I've done it many times with their MIDI and samples.

Hey, wondering if the KVLT Drums are worth it for black metal stuff. I'm using an old plugin right now and it sounds super thin.

M Marcus R. 2 months ago

Oh yeah, totally. KVLT Drums is literally designed for that sound. You won't regret it. Way thicker than most stock stuff.

A Amber Vargas 2 months ago

I picked up the KVLT Drums bundle during a sale, and it's night and day for black metal. The MIDI packs they have for it are also super useful if you're not a drummer.

KVLT Drums vs Riot Drums - anyone got a strong opinion on which one to pick for black metal?

F Frostbite88 1 month ago ✓ Best Answer

Honestly, for raw black metal, KVLT Drums just *nails* that lo-fi, almost garage-recorded sound. Riot is good for more modern stuff, but if you want that grim, cold vibe, KVLT is the one.

G GrimFrost 1 month ago

Does it work well with the Old School Black Metal MIDI pack?

F FenrisWolf 1 month ago

Yeah, I heard KVLT is more 'authentic' sounding.

D DealSeeker 1 month ago

Why not both? Wait for a sale, they do bundle deals sometimes. Then you have options.

D DarkThroneFan 1 month ago

Good idea. Any word on upcoming sales?

C CouponKing 1 month ago

Black Friday is usually a safe bet.

M MetalheadMax 1 month ago

I actually prefer Riot Drums. You can dial back the polish and get a pretty gritty sound if you try. Plus, it's more versatile for other genres too if you ever branch out.

N NecroLord 1 month ago

Is it still good for classic black metal sounds though?

D DarkThroneFan 1 month ago

Versatility is a good point.

I'm thinking about grabbing a bunch of MIDI packs. Does Ugritone do any kind of bundle deal if you buy like 3 or 4 at once?

G Greg W. 2 months ago

They definitely do bundle discounts. Usually they have specific 'MIDI Pack Bundles' or something similar. Check their main page.

R Rosa M. 2 months ago

Yeah, I got a 'metal MIDI bundle' for like 50% off last year. Just look for the bundle section, it's usually cheaper than buying individually.

My Ugritone discount code for KVLT Drums isn't working. Anyone else had this issue or know why?

C CodeCrusher 3 weeks ago ✓ Best Answer

Did you check the expiry date? Sometimes codes are really short-lived, especially for specific products like KVLT Drums.

P PromoHunter 3 weeks ago

Could be a one-time use code too if it was from a newsletter signup.

R RiffLord 3 weeks ago

Hmm, it didn't have one listed when I got it.

S SavingsSavvy 3 weeks ago

Are you trying to stack it with another discount? Ugritone usually doesn't allow stacking coupons.

B BudgetBeats 3 weeks ago

Yeah, almost no one lets you stack.

R RiffLord 3 weeks ago

Oh, I was trying to use it on top of a bundle deal. That might be it.

G GeekySounds 3 weeks ago

Sometimes specific codes are only for new customers, or only for certain regions. Worth double-checking the fine print if you got it from a third-party site.

R RiffLord 3 weeks ago

Good point. I got it from a Youtuber.

T TypoQueen 3 weeks ago

Maybe it's case sensitive too?

Anyone know if Ugritone plugins play nice with Logic Pro on an M1 Mac? Don't wanna buy it if it's gonna be a headache to get working.

C Cody 2 months ago

Yep, they work on M1 Macs. I use Riot Drums in Logic Pro all the time, no issues.

S Sam 2 months ago

I'm pretty sure they updated all their stuff for M1. I remember seeing a post about it a while back. Should be fine.
